April 23, 1932 - March 20, 2013 

Sadly, we announce the passing of Estelle (Boomy) Roitman on March 20, 2013, beloved wife of Sam Roitman, loving mother of Debby (Martin) Bricker, Lesley (Laurie) Goldberg, Harriet (Martin) Glazer, devoted grandmother to David, Ivy, Rachel, Mikaela, Matthew, Ryan and Tali, and special aunt to Sheila and Arie Perlmutter.

Former Winnipegger publishes financial guide for North Americans considering aliyah

So you’re thinking of making aliyah. But do you know what you are signing up for? A fair number of Jewish North Americans who take that leap of faith that is aliyah soon limp back home in frustration. Brent (Baruch) Labinsky is confident that his new book, “A Financial Guide to Aliyah and Life in Israel”, will help make the transition for new olim smoother and greatly improve their odds of making a successful aliyah.

SIDNEY SEGAL

(1931-2012)

On August 30, 2012, with his loving family by his side, Sidney peacefully passed away at the age of 81. Sidney is survived by his wife Gayle of 58 years, children Rhonda and Zvi Gordon and David and Glenda Segal, and his ultimate pride and joy, grandsons Jason and Jeffrey Gordon, Shimon, Devin and Ryan Segal, Avie Erdile and great-grandchildren Lucy Gordon and Alexander Erdile. Sid is also survived by his aunt Eleanor Gunn, sisters-in-law Ann Gardner and Gladys Dubo and in-laws Hy and Donna Dubo, with whom he had a special bond, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Dorothy and Joseph, sister Shirley (Ben) Billinkoff, mother-in-law, Molly Dubovsky and Gayle’s siblings, Sue (Jack) Lomow, Harry Dubo, and Fay (Max) Klapman.

LUCILLE OMSON

The family of Lucille Omson sadly announces her passing on September 7, 2012, after a lengthy illness. 

 Born in Winnipeg on March 25, 1922, to Helen and David Bell, she spent her formative years there, studying Home Economics at the University of Manitoba. Lucille married her high school sweetheart Alan Omson in 1942 and lived for the next few years in both Montreal and Vancouver where Alan was stationed in the Royal Canadian Air Force. In 1950 they returned to Winnipeg where they raised their 4 daughters.
