PHYLLIS (KLUNER) HATSKIN

Hatskin PhyllisIt is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother on August 3, 2021 at the age of 89.

Phyllis will be sorely missed by her sons Martin (Reesa), Alan (Robyn), brother Alvin Mantell, daughter-in-law Hanna, grandchildren Mickey (Stephanie), Corey (Sean), Zev (Kristin), Elana, and great-grandchildren Mason, Lucy, Remy and Nora.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill Kluner, son Kerry, parents Joe and Fanny Mantell, and second husband Rube Hatskin.
She will also be missed by Rube’s children and grandchildren, Candy and Guy Stearns, Lauren, D’Arcy, Alex, Max and their families.
Phyllis was deeply devoted to her family that were spread across Canada, U.S. and Israel. She spoke to everyone regularly, and even became somewhat proficient using Facetime in her 80’s. Baba especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in recent years. This brought her tremendous happiness. She was a very generous person and never forgot a family member’s birthday, anniversary or special event. We usually received a card in the mail in advance.
She loved spending 3 months every year in Palm Springs and did this for the past 30 years or so. Playing bridge with her friends was a passion she enjoyed for many years. She also became a golfer in recent years after meeting Rube.
Phyllis lost a number of close friends over the years due to their passing, and established close relationships with other friends she spoke with daily. She enjoyed her friendships and all the memories that were created.
A graveside funeral service was officiated by Rabbi Matthew Leibl on August 5, 2021 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers: Martin Kluner, Alan Kluner, Mickey Kluner, Jeff Garfinkel, Lauren Stearns and D’Arcy Stearns. Honorary pallbearers: Zev Kluner, Corey Kluner, Sean Hassan, Marvin Garfinkel and Jeff Ostrove.
